The Centre for Pacific
and Asian Studies (CPAS) was established in 1991. Developed from the
former Centre for Australian and Oceanic Studies, the CPAS has an interdisciplinary
character and covers Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand, Continental
Asia and insular Southeast Asia. The Centre is hosted by the Cultural
Anthropology research group within the Department of Anthropology and
Development Studies at the University of Nijmegen. The CPAS constitutes
a network of social and cultural anthropologists, legal anthropologists,
development sociologists, geographers, historians, and linguists at
the University of Nijmegen and at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics
in Nijmegen. At present approximately 25 senior and 14 junior scholars
are affiliated with the Centre.
Association
for Social Anthropology in Oceania is an international organization
dedicated to comparative studies of Pacific topics.
Australian
and Oceania Network for Rural Social Research and Community Development
The Australian and Oceania Network for Rural Social Research and Community
Development (AoN) offer membership to those interested in Australian
rural sociology matters. Although not much information is provided on
the site, membership allows one to subscribe to a related journal 'Rural
Research'. Members also have the opportunity to become part of the International
Rural Sociology Association

Society for Oceanists The European Society for Oceanists
was established in 1992 at the First European Colloquium on Pacific
Studies. It is a professional association which addresses itself to
researchers with a regional interest in Oceania. Oceania includes
the Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya, Australia and New
Zealand.

The European
Centre on Pacific Issues (ECSIEP) is the secretariat of the Europe Pacific
Solidarity Network. ECSIEP serves as an information centre on developments
in the Pacific and acts as an interface between Pacific civil society
and European organizations and institutions.

Resource
Management in Asia-Pacific Project (RMAP) Program is housed
in the Research School of Pacific
and Asian Studies (RSPAS) at the Australian
National University in Canberra , with funding from the Institute
of Advanced Studies. The RMAP Program's mission is to establish itself
as the focal point in a regional network of institutions that undertake
or use research on the social, political, economic, and ecological aspects
of environmental and resource management issues in the Asia-Pacific
region.

the leading centre for research into contemporary issues of governance
in Melanesia. The Project's research and outreach focuses on Island
Melanesia - Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia
and Fiji; on the culturally-related region to the west including Papua/Irian
Jaya and Timor; and on the countries of the Pacific Islands region to
the north and east.

Melanesian
Studies: A Guide to Resources on Melanesia This site is intended
to provide an overview of library materials, both published and unpublished,
pertinent to the study of Melanesia. UCSD's collection strengths for
this area include anthropology, European voyages of exploration and
research, archaeology, linguistics, and history. A special emphasis
is placed on collecting primary source materials: anthropologists' fieldnotes,
government patrol reports, microfilms of mission records, firsthand
accounts of travelers, and newspapers from the region, etc. The collection
also includes many dissertations and theses.
Agriculture
in Papua New Guinea
This is a searchable
bibliography of over 12,000 published and unpublished papers, reports
and books on the broadly interpreted theme of agriculture in Papua New
Guinea. The core bibliography was created during the Mapping Agricultural
Systems Project undertaken by The
Land Management Group in the Department of Human Geography, Research
School of Pacific and Asian Studies, ANU .

(CAPSTRANS) is a joint research centre of the University of Wollongong
and the University of Newcastle in Australia. The Centre carries out

This site seeks to make available online instructional materials for
teaching about the Pacific Islands , primarily in higher education.
The site includes course descriptions, reading lists and bibliographies
from specialized courses on the Pacific as well as non-specialized courses
that may facilitate teaching about the Pacific in general humanities
and social science curricula.
Pacific
Studies WWW Monitor, The The Pacific Studies WWW Monitor, published
by the Internet Publications Bureau, Research School of Pacific and
Asian Studies at the Australian National University, 'provides weekly
abstracts and reviews of new/updated online resources of significance
to research, teaching and communications dealing with Pacific Studies'.
Like its sibling publication Asian Studies WWW Monitor, upon which it
is modelled, The Monitor allows the reader either to subscribe to the
email alerts and/or to search or browse the contents of past issues.
Each resource is given a concise description and a graded assessment
for its 'scholarly usefulness'.
Secretariat
of the Pacific Community (SPC) The Secretariat of the Pacific Community
conducts the SPC Demography/Population Programme 'to support Pacific
Island governments in the collection, analysis, interpretation, dissemination
and utilisation of population data. Recently produced statistics are
available in tabular form (Oceania Population 2000) and in graphs. Publications
produced by the SPC as well as forthcoming publications are listed along
with brief summaries and details of how to obtain them.
