					<p>The SIPRI Policy Paper <a href="http://books.sipri.org/product_info?c_product_id=410" class="external-link"><em>New Foreign Policy Actors in China</em></a> by Linda Jakobson and Dean Knox has been awarded an Albie by the journal <em>Foreign Policy</em>. The Albies are given to the 10 best publications on the global political economy of the past year. </p><p>The criteria for winning the award is:&quot;Any book, journal article, magazine piece, op-ed, or blog post published  in the last calendar year that made you rethink how the world works in  such a way that you will never be able &quot;unthink&quot; the argument.&quot; </p><p>Read more about the award <a href="http://drezner.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/01/07/announcing_the_2010_albies" target="_blank">here </a></p><p>Linda Jakobson and Dean Knox&#39;s report is an analysis of the new actors that influence Chinese foreign policy decisions. </p><p>&quot;Actors outside the traditional power structure increasingly shape  China&rsquo;s foreign policy. Expanding pluralism within Chinese society and  China&rsquo;s growing interdependence with the international community have  led to the emergence of new players who want to have an impact on  foreign policy formulation in line with their own, sometimes narrowly  defined, interests&quot;.</p><p><strong>Linda Jakobson</strong> (Finland) is Director of the SIPRI China and Global Security Programme. </p><p><strong>Dean Knox</strong> (United States) is a Research Assistant with the SIPRI China and Global Security Programme.&nbsp; </p><p><a href="http://www.sipri.org/media/pressreleases/2010/100906chinaforeignpolicy" target="_blank">Press realease with more information</a>. </p>
